Candidate 1: Administrative Assistant/Help Desk
This candidate has great administrative experience in a variety of
industries! She spent two years with a suburban insurance agency as a Technical
Assistant, where she assisted underwriters with risk review, rating, quoting and
binding. In this role, she used TAM and had her property and casualty license.
Prior to this position, she worked for a homebuilder in an administrative
capacity. In this role, she was considered a level one helpdesk employee and
was responsible for troubleshooting IT questions in person and over the phone.
She also was the administrative assistant to the CIO. She is upbeat, a
multi-tasker and lives in the Northwest Suburbs. She has a refreshing can-do
attitude and believes her job has always been to make her fellow employee’s
lives easier.
Candidate 2: Office Manager/Executive Assistant
This candidate's career path put her in the finance department of a
law firm after working in credit/collections/accounting in the 1990s. While
there, this candidate’s potential was noticed and she moved into a support role
for the firms Managing Partner. After leaving in November 2005, this candidate
was asked to act as an Executive Assistant to an attorney at a prior employer
who had other business ventures. This candidate established a level of trust
and soon became his personal assistant as well. This candidate was recruited
and placed by ICI in 2006 as an Executive Assistant at a development company.
The position expanded into a multitude of duties that enabled her to act as an
Office Manager as well. A lack of work led to this candidate, and most of the
rest of the staff, being laid off. She turned a negative into a positive and
pursued a dream of opening her own business. She currently owns a personalized
sign shop operating at a tourist venue. The business is established to the
point that this candidate does not have to be present; it run’s itself
so-to-say. Being an entrepreneur and small business owner herself, this
candidate understands the importance of organization, accuracy, and having the
right support in place.
Candidate 3: Accountant
This candidate worked for a freight forwarding company for two
years as an A/P clerk where she got a great reference! She worked extensively
with Great Plains software and handled the A/P input, cut checks to payees, made
collection calls, posted payments to the general ledger and processed employee
expenses among other things. Prior to this, she worked as a Staff Accountant
Intern at a Chicago non-profit and obtained Bachelors in Accounting from DePaul
University in 2006. She has a “get things done” personality and has reasonable
salary expectations given her experience. She also has great administrative
skills; she types 68 WPM and scored 90% or above on Word and Excel. She is open
to temp, temp to perm and direct hire opportunities.
Candidate 4: Marketing Professional
This candidate recently relocated to Chicago from Cleveland. She
possesses both an education and work experience in Marketing. In her most
recent position, this candidate entered the company as a Marketing Assistant in
2005 and was promoted to Marketing Coordinator in 2007. She is comfortable with
the many aspects of marketing, describing herself as analytical with
creative/design abilities. She is confident in her writing abilities and can
provide samples of mailers, flyers, letters, etc. Her personality came
through the first time we spoke to her on a long-distance phone call – we could
tell she is smiling even without seeing her face. Since then, this candidate
has come into our offices and she proved to be outgoing, professional, and
charming.
Candidate 5: Executive Assistant
This candidate has worked for an executive search firm for the past
thirteen years, and is seeking a new opportunity because her company is down to
five employees. Because of the nature of the business, she understands what it
means to support and interact with C-Level executives on a daily basis. She has
a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Organizational Development;
she understands how a company can develop and grow with the right personnel.
She handles scheduling, invoicing, contracts, international and domestic travel
arrangements and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. She understands
working in an unpredictable environment and often has to drop what she’s doing,
prioritize and take a new direction. Her reference spoke very highly of her,
stating “she was the glue that held the business together.” She is a rare find
and has a refreshing can-do attitude.
Candidate 6: Legal Billing/Secretary
This candidate has been with her current family law firm that has
four offices since May 2008 doing a mix of billing and legal secretary work.
She currently handles the billing responsibilities for all of the firm’s
locations. She processes all billing electronically, calculates interest and
fine charges, makes collections calls, tracks all expenses and utilizes client
codes for invoicing procedures. She uses PCLaw and QuickBooks, as well as
Accurint.com to process credit card payments. She also manages the calendar for
the Senior Attorney/President. She is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University
with a bachelors degree in Political Science. She currently commutes between
their two suburban locations, so she is comfortable with a position in the city
or suburbs. She also has very realistic salary expectations!
Candidate 7: Patent Legal Secretary
This employed candidate has been with a large firm as a secretary
in the area of Patent Prosecution law for over two years. She supports one
partner and four associates and serves as the assigned contact person for patent
cases. She enters billable hours, and drafts correspondence to clients and
foreign counsel. She also maintains the docket and drafts legal documents for
the USPTO. Prior to this, she worked at a real estate development company for
two years as well as at a dance academy. She is looking for a new opportunity
where she can build upon her current legal experience and add value. She has an
AA in Legal Assisting and a BA in Criminal Justice from Bellevue University in
Nebraska. Her refreshing personality, paired with her excellent skill-set and
reasonable salary expectations make her a prime candidate for any legal
secretarial role.
Candidate 8: Marketing Brand Manager
This candidate has established himself as a vital asset to the
successful marketing and branding of both small and large non-profit and for
profit organizations. He currently holds the position of Corporate Brand
Marketing Manager for Healthcare Management and Information Technology company
with current revenues in excess of $100 million and over 1,200 employees
nationwide. Getting his start in marketing at a non-profit bank, he has valuable
experience strengthening brands across many different types of media and target
audiences in both types of industries. Specific mediums include website and
online publications, print media, social media, email campaigns, direct mail, as
well as trade show and conference marketing. He has direct involvement in the
planning, marketing and implementation of monthly industry conferences and trade
shows as well as annual conferences which his company hosts for their client
base. He is part of a marketing team of only two full time employees, overseeing
five separate divisions within his current company. He has valuable experience
in not only the business side of marketing and advertising but the design and
technical sides as well. He is a driven individual with a welcoming personality
that would be a strong asset for your organization.
Candidate 9: PR/Marketing Coordinator
This candidate spent the last five years as the Public Relations
Coordinator for a medical non-profit representing medical professionals
worldwide. He came into this newly developed position and was responsible for
the management of a five-year public awareness campaign; as the Public Relations
Coordinator he planned and staffed trade show exhibitions, composed media
materials such as press releases, wrote newsletters, updated the main website,
developed and maintained the department budget. By the end of this five year
campaign, the communications department had increased media exposure by 360%.
He is currently volunteering while he seeks out a position that can utilize his
strong communications and marketing background, his specialties are in editorial
development and client management. He is skilled in the following creative
programs: Adobe Suit, PageMaker, Photoshop, Dream weaver, CMS. He is ready to
hit the ground running.
Candidate 10: Paralegal
If your firm is looking for a sharp, versatile legal
secretary/paralegal who has worked in both corporate and legal environments look
no further. This superstar currently works at a wealth management law firm and
previously worked at a large firm as a paralegal within finance and securities.
She also has five years of account management experience within a commercial
insurance broker, which means she understands the legalities of a business from
the insurance side. She received two glowing references that said they would
hire her back if their companies had the funding. She is skilled in lexis
nexis, word, excel and westlaw and enjoys working in challenging environments.
Her flexibility, intelligence and thorough work style are some of her greatest
qualities and she looks forward to bringing these positive traits to her next
firm.
Candidate 11: IT Administrative Assistant
This candidate has spent the last seven years directly supporting
the president of an IT Consulting Company, until their relocation to California
made it impossible for her to keep her position. Prior to becoming an Executive
Assistant she was a Middle School teacher, wanting more of a challenge she left
to become an Executive Assistant. In addition to providing administrative
support, she also acted as initial IT support. Her daily responsibilities
included administrative and office support, maintaining a 90% paperless office.
She organized special events, arranged and tracked travel schedules and expenses
(within a tracking application which she created) and managed a client
database. Although her educational background does not include IT, she is self
taught to satisfy basic help desk needs, software application development, ACT
and HTML. Currently this candidate is working on a contractual basis for a
Medical Practice, developing a database for their offices, and transitioning
this traditional office into a paperless office. She is open to temp to perm
and direct hire opportunities.
Candidate 12: Legal Marketing Director
If you seek an accomplished Marketing/PR addition with a proven
background in building law firm brand awareness, look no further. This
candidate spent the last two years working for a large Chicago law firm creating
and implementing a public relations plan that included raising brand awareness
of the firm name, as well as its practice groups and individual lawyers. Her
work at this firm resulted in numerous published articles, interviews, and other
media mentions. In this position, she worked to ensure the firm’s brand
integrity was maintained in all internal and external print and online
communications, promotional materials, and advertising. She introduced a
firm-wide media relations policy, as well as the first-ever initiative to train
associates in marketing, business development, and other key skills. She also
educated the support and administrative staff on their own key roles in
representing the firm and its brand consistently and effectively. Prior to her
experience at this firm, she worked for a legal non-profit organization for over
ten years. She understands the legal market, has excellent writing skills and
is versatile to the point that she can add value to every area of a firm. She
is open to city and suburban opportunities!
