Candidate 1: Multi-Tasking Admin.
Assistant/Customer Service Professional
This candidate is an absolute find for any organization seeking a
recent grad that is ready to do whatever it takes to get the job done. She is a
recent graduate from George Washington University in D.C., where she majored in
Political Science. In order to gain a better understanding of the business
world, she chose to study abroad in India. Throughout college, she completed
multiple internships where she gained hands on experience supporting executive
in an administrative capacity, maintaining databases and working with social
media. Additionally, she worked in an administrative capacity for a medical
office before and during college. She is actively involved in her community
(she is a coach, mentor, and volunteer for two non-profits), and will be an
excellent asset for any company seeking a versatile administrative assistant.
Candidate 2: Sales/Marketing Assistant
This candidate is a 2008 graduate of Purdue University, where she
majored in Communications. While in school, she worked at an auto parts
supplier as an Event Planning Intern over summer and winter breaks. In this
internship, she was hands on in planning National Sales Meetings around the
country. For the past 2.5 years, she has worked for a manufacturing company in
the Western suburbs as a Sales Coordinator. She admits this is truly an
administrative role, which encompasses many tasks in the areas of sales support,
accounting, marketing, event planning, customer service, and database
management. She enjoys variety, and is used to working in an environment where
her participation is relied upon heavily. Because of this, she understands the
value of every task- no matter how large or small.
Candidate 3: Insurance Account Manager
While attending Illinois State University, this candidate’s
interest in insurance was sparked while taking a class taught by an insurance
executive which provided him real world insight into the industry. He then
completed an Underwriting internship with a carrier where he analyzed and
classified risk submissions, evaluated the risk and exposure of prospective
clients and supported a team of independent agents. He then partook in a
marketing internship with a start-up personal lines agency where he tracked and
reported marketing trends, created and implemented marketing campaigns as well
as provided customer service and claims support. He then obtained his degree in
2009 with a double major in Marketing and Insurance and was selected to
participate in a management training program with an international brokerage
where he supported a Senior Executive Liability Broker as a Client
Representative. In this role, he analyzed clients existing insurance programs
and requirements, submitted coverage specs and obtained quotes from carriers as
well as supported the Senior Broker with proposal presentations, marketing,
premium payment and program servicing. This candidate’s passion for insurance is
immediately evident upon meeting him and should prove to be a value added hire
for his next employer.
Candidate 4: Accountant/Auditor
This referred candidate has achieved both a BBA in Accounting from
Southern Methodist University as well as Masters of Accounting from Loyola
University Chicago. After completing an internship during undergrad with an
international audit, tax and advisory firm, she was hired on as an Audit
Associate after completing her Masters in 2009. During her time with this CPA
firm she has managed all aspects of client engagements, including planning,
performing, leading and completing audits within budget and time requirements
for several large multinational corporations and smaller private companies. She
prides herself on maintaining a strong client focus by responding to client’s
requests and developing and implementing a productive working relationship with
client personnel. In addition, she has managed multiple teams simultaneously
and served as a mentor for incoming employees as well as interns. On a personal
note, she spent a summer studying at Oxford University, served as the Treasurer
of her sorority and is active in philanthropies since relocating to Chicago.
She has a great personality, is currently pursuing her CPA, and should prove to
be an asset for her next employer.
Candidate 5: Legal Assistant
This candidate is a graduate of UIC, where she double-majored in
Economics and Political Science. While in school, she worked part-time in an
administrative capacity for a salon where she handled scheduling, A/P in
QuickBooks, inventory and customer service. In 2010, she started working for a
small firm practicing family law on a part-time basis, while simultaneously
balancing a part-time schedule with the salon. From these experiences, she has
learned the value of multi-tasking and prioritizing. Working at the law firm has
given her a strong foundation in the legal field and due to the small size of
the firm, she has been able to learn how to do many different things.
Additionally, she scored a near perfect score on ICI's office skills test, an
exam that tests for spelling, grammar, punctuation and math skills with no help
from a dictionary or calculator. She is now looking to bring her year and a half
of legal experience to a firm where she can add value and continue her career
supporting attorneys. She is smart, outgoing, speaks Spanish fluently and is
excited to find her first full-time employer.
Candidate 6: Sharp Train-To-Legal Candidate
This impressive 2010 graduate of Cornell University majored in
Economics and minored in International Relations and Law & Society. In
addition to studying in Sydney, Australia for one semester, this candidate was
actively involved in many campus organizations while at Cornell. After
graduation, he secured an internship as a Campaign Intern for a Cook County
Commissioner, where he analyzed voting patterns and gained support for the
campaign. He is currently interning part-time for a firm that publishes legal
aid materials online. In this role, he has gained invaluable experience editing
and writing legal content items to ensure readability for public use, which
compliments his attention to detail. This candidate is seeking a full-time
position within a firm where he can add value and expand his passion of the
legal field.
Candidate 7: Commercial Lines Insurance CSR
This 2011 graduate of Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in
Finance has already managed to gain 3 ½ years of insurance work experience.
While attending NIU, she worked part-time for a full service wholesale brokerage
as a Production Assistant and was brought on as a full time employee after
graduation. She has gained experience in all aspects of account management by
servicing a book of accounts ranging from 25K to 1M in premium and is
comfortable marketing submissions, handling endorsements, binders, final audits
and invoices. In addition, she handles General Liability and Workers’
Compensation audits, surplus lines filing forms for non-admitted carrier
policies and creating marketing materials. She is familiar with submission
requirements, accord applications, supplemental applications, loss runs, X-mods,
A.M. Best Ratings, MVRs, online quoting with the standard marketing and
currently utilizes TAM. She is personable, seeking an environment where she can
apply her insurance knowledge and is ready to take on new challenges.
Candidate 8: Temp or Perm Executive Assistant
This candidate has 7 years of executive administrative
assistant experience and has many qualities that support the fact that she is a
street-smart, proactive assistant.
Throughout her career, she has worked in both a start-up supporting
nearly every facet of the business as well as a 500 person brokerage where she
was enabled to focus on one department in-depth. She loves working with
computers (she scored 100% on both word and excel tests) and considers herself
an out-of-box thinker. She likes to take
the initiative: she has taken it upon herself to create an electronic client
database in a company where everything was always hand-written, which improved
efficiency across the board for all employees.
She recently relocated back to Chicago from California, and is excited
to hit the ground running in her next company.

Candidate 9: Versatile Administrative Assistant
This referred candidate is a graduate of Northwestern
University, where she graduated with a Bachelors in Art History with an
impressive 3.86 GPA. While in school,
she worked as an Administrative Assistant for an insurance company in
Chicago. In this position, she supported
15 agents, with administrative tasks such as answering phones, scanning,
processing certificates of insurance, and assisting client with inquiries. When her studies required her to be closer to
Evanston, she took a position at the Northwestern Office of Financial Aid,
where she worked with donor relations adhering to strict deadlines. In college, she took it upon herself to
diversify her studies, which included a semester abroad in Ireland as well as
coursework in Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Economics. Additionally, she scored a near perfect score
on ICI’s office skills test with no aid from a dictionary or calculator. She is
sharp, outgoing, and presentable and will likely be an immediate impact for any
company seeking a utility player.
Candidate 10: Accounting Assistant
This
candidate is a 2007 graduate of Purdue University, where she majored in
Finance. Immediately upon graduating, she started with a manufacturing
company in the South suburbs, where she handled a variety of duties in the 4
person accounting department. She was the person responsible for making
all B2B collection calls (about 30/day) to their clients, as well as all invoicing
and some credit management. In February 2011, she and her husband moved
to Wheeling be closer to his place of employment. She resigned from this
position due to the commute. Since relocating to the NW suburbs, she has
been working as a Financial Consultant for a University, where she consults
students about their account balances, payments and financial aid. She is
ready to get back into a corporation where she can be an integral part of the
accounting process. Her mix of collections, A/R, invoicing and credit
management should make her a likely candidate for this role.
Additionally, she has a down-to-earth personality and is ready to prove herself.
Candidate 11: Legal Assistant
This
candidate is a 2007 graduate from Aurora University, where she graduated with a
Bachelors in Criminal Justice. She
graduated with an impressive 3.47 GPA and was also a member of the college
soccer team. Since graduation, she has
remained loyal to one employer, a small legal practice where she is the only
support to two attorneys. In this
position, she handles “everything” for them, from drafting documents to
billing, A/P, and court runs. She is
very organized and has taken their office and has revolutionized the
functionality of the office with her procedures and practices she has
implemented for billing, time entry, client management and databases. After 3.5 years of dedication to this firm,
she is ready for her next challenge.
Candidate 12: Marketing/Admin/Underwriting Assistant
This
candidate is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, where she majored in
Marketing. While in college, she decided
to study abroad in Greece. She feels
this experience gave her a global perspective on the business world. While in school, she also completed a
Marketing Internship for a theater, a position where she established brand
awareness via social marketing, assisted with fundraising events, and performed
basic administrative tasks. Since
relocating to Chicago last fall, she has been working in the real estate
industry as a Post-Closing Assistant for a mortgage banker. In this position, she reviews mortgage
applications to ensure that the loans are completed accurately. She is looking for an administrative position
downtown where she can hit the ground running with a variety of tasks.
